BMI under 18.5 – is considered very underweight and possibly malnourished, 18.5-24.9 – you have a healthy weight range for young and middle-aged adults, 25.0 to 29.9 – you are overweight and over 30, you are considered obese.

 

What is the ideal body mass index?
So what should your ideal weight be? Current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and as defined: a normal BMI range as 18.5 to 24.9. Overweight is defined as 25 or higher; obesity is 30 or higher; and severe obesity is 35 and up.
